Location; Situated in a rural location within the New Forest National Park Boundary . Conveniently located five miles from Lyndhurst, two miles from junction 1 of the M27 at Cadnam, and one mile as the crow flies from the motorway itself. Well positioned with a pub and village shop within half a mile, and a second pub within a mile. The hamlet of Newbridge is about one and a half miles from Thimble cottage, being the closest point to access the delights of the open forest and wandering stock. Perfect for bike rides and picnics and just enjoying the scenery.

Property description; A pleasantly quirky thatched holiday cottage that dates in parts from the 17th Century. Given the age of the original part of the building, tall people beware, there is limited head hight in the sitting room and the doors that lead from it. But the majority of the accommodation, including the bedrooms are standard heights. A delightful combination of old and new, with many original features providing light and bright holiday accommodation. An ideal base from which to explore the whole of the New Forest region.

Outside; The small frontage has one gravelled parking space, with a second place available by the side of the off road lane that runs in front of the cottage. To the rear of the property, the lovely garden is accessed by a door from the conservatory. A pleasantly screened level garden, backing on to fields. The garden benefits both a patio off the conservatory, looking out over the cottage garden and a decked area at the rear of the garden with gas BBQ. Garden furniture and parasol. Small barn, (mentioned in the Doomsday Book) providing bike storage.A wonderful thatched roof rounds off this excellent holiday cottage.

Forest walking. The closest spot is about a mile and a half away at Newbridge. A lovely unspoilt part of the forest, good for pony and wild life spotting. Good terrain for cycling, the lanes are quiet. Discover Penn Common to experience the cutlure of commoning, donkeys, sheep, ponies, cattle and pigs are all free range. About a ten minute drive to the New Forest village of Nomansland, via Penn Common offers endless walks in Bramshaw wood and benefits from a village pub overlooking the green. Perfect for a pint when the local cricket team are in action.

Nearest Shop, Spar Shop and newsagents at Bartley, under three quarters of a mile from Thimble Cottage. Morrisons supermarket at West Totton, about three miles.

Nearest little Towns. Lyndhurst about a ten minutes drive from your holiday accomodation. Ask for secret local route to avoid traffic queues. Romsey, a period town with plenty of eateries, interesting little independent shops. Romsey Abbey and Broadlands Stately Home. About a fifteen minute drive from your cottage.

Nearest rail station, Southampton Central, Lyndhurst Road Station at Ashurst.

Local eating; The Compass Inn at Winsor, walkable,The Haywain at Bartley, walkable.The White Hart and Sir John Barleycorn, the Chanteclair bistro also at Cadnam, all about a five minute drive. For really posh nosh, Hotel Terra Vina at Woodlands, ten to fifteen minutes drive.
