It is located on the first floor of an impressive building and accessed via a shared hallway, but once inside you'll be transported into your own quiet haven. An abundance of exciting trails are at your disposal, many of which can be accessed from your front doorstep. You can walk or cycle throughout the varied terrain, admiring the free-roaming ponies. Of an evening, why not get dressed in your finery and dine at one of Lyndhurst's delightful restaurants, or cosy up by the fire in a traditional pub with a pint of locally brewed ale. Slightly further afield, the riverside town of Fordingbridge (14.5 miles) is breathtakingly picturesque but has a fascinatingly dark smuggling past.

If you’re after a holiday destination which has natural wonders and British tradition in abundance, look no further than the New Forest – a region where beautiful heathland, forest trails and stunning coastline surround quaint villages and market towns.

The National Park is found on England’s south coast, covering the south west of Hampshire but extending into Wiltshire and Dorset. It’s known for its picturesque footpaths and cycle trails, from which you can witness the spectacular sights of deer, ponies and cattle roaming free throughout the ancient woodland.

The villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Buckler’s Hard have plenty of traditional, cosy pubs in which you can enjoy some locally-brewed cider or beer. Or, if you wanted something a little livelier, Hythe, Lymington and New Milton run fantastic weekly markets, while the lively city of Southampton is a drive away.

If you prefer coast over country, a visit to the shoreline is a must. Highlights include the Barton-on-Sea cliffs, Lymington Quay, and the Beaulieu River, where adventurous activities including canoeing await. There are plenty of other great things to do, too, with the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Breamore House and Museum near Fordingbridge, and Exbury Gardens all found around the region.
