An idyllic chocolate-box property that’s wonderfully positioned for exploring the beauty of the surrounding area, including spectacular walks through the New Forest and along the Solent coastline.

Enjoying a delightful position along a country lane in the village of Sway, this property offers guests a real flavour of village life with various shops and a local pub which provides an excellent spot for unwinding after a day spent exploring the New Forest. The surrounding countryside is so enchanting that it famously sparked the literary inspiration for the Victorian author’s Captain Myratt’s novel “Children of the New Forest.” The vibrant coastal town of Lymington is just a four-mile drive from the property and offers various independent shops, wine bars, restaurants and cafes. The property is easily accessible by both road and rail, with Sway station connecting guests to London.

The property embraces open-plan living with a welcoming farmhouse-style open plan kitchen lounge diner that’s fully equipped with all the essentials. A dining table is perfect for entertaining and the cosy lounge area is centred around a woodburner which makes the room a lovely spot for a night in with a DVD. On the ground floor there is also a cloakroom for those muddy boots and wet coats.

Upstairs there are two charming bedrooms which both feature wood floors that give them a wonderful feeling of warmth. The master bedroom contains a double bed with a memory foam mattress and there is a single bed nestled into an alcove. The bedroom has an en-suite with a shower over bath. The property’s second spacious bedroom consists of a king-size bed and there is also an en-suite with a large walk-in shower.

Outside there is a charming lawn and patio seating area that’s ideal for a BBQ and al-fresco dining. There is also a stable block at the bottom of the garden that’s available to store bikes.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Great location but only suitable if you have one car due to limited parking. Clean and nicely decorated but plumbing and tumble dryer need some attention. The garden is nice and private and the cottage is in a great location for walks.

Easy to find and fantastic location for exploring the New Forest. It seemed so central to everywhere. The fact that that there is also a train station so close was useful. You could get the train for the price of parking. The cottage was beautifully designed, comfortable and well equipped. Absolutely loved our stay, we felt totally at home and can't wait to go back. Loads to do if you've got a car to travel to different parts of the forest or down to the beaches on the south coast. We did the local park run which is less than 5mins by car and so beautiful (albeit a little hilly for the unfit like me). Also visited the local deli and Read morepub on foot and made the most of gorgeous sunny weather in the garden. Kitchen well equipped with little extras like tea, coffee, dishwasher tabs! Hide

delightful charming cottage. Well appointed, beautifully decorated, cleaned to a high standard and stocked with all essentials. An ideal base for exploring the New Forest area. We had very relaxing evenings round the log fire, which topped a very enjoyable week.

Border Cottage is a lovely Cottage with everything you need for a perfect holiday. There are two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms,The ground floor is open plan,with a country style Kitchin with everything you could possibly need a lovely cottage.

The cottage was delightful and suited myself and my sister perfectly. We loved the daily visits from next doors cats and the eggs from next door's chicken were delicious. The booking procedure was straightforward and user-friendly.

If you’re after a holiday destination which has natural wonders and British tradition in abundance, look no further than the New Forest – a region where beautiful heathland, forest trails and stunning coastline surround quaint villages and market towns.

The National Park is found on England’s south coast, covering the south west of Hampshire but extending into Wiltshire and Dorset. It’s known for its picturesque footpaths and cycle trails, from which you can witness the spectacular sights of deer, ponies and cattle roaming free throughout the ancient woodland.

The villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Buckler’s Hard have plenty of traditional, cosy pubs in which you can enjoy some locally-brewed cider or beer. Or, if you wanted something a little livelier, Hythe, Lymington and New Milton run fantastic weekly markets, while the lively city of Southampton is a drive away.

If you prefer coast over country, a visit to the shoreline is a must. Highlights include the Barton-on-Sea cliffs, Lymington Quay, and the Beaulieu River, where adventurous activities including canoeing await. There are plenty of other great things to do, too, with the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Breamore House and Museum near Fordingbridge, and Exbury Gardens all found around the region.
