A very relaxing cabin. Stylish and up to date interior. Amazing views. You cannot help but relax. Loved going for walks and feeding the birds. Our little girl loved the books, the bath and watching the squirrels. The large TV amazed her as well. The host was very helpful throughout the stay. Fingers crossed we will be back soon.

We stayed at The Riverside Retreat over Christmas. On arrival we found a Christmas tree complete with lights and a bottle of mulled wine and other goodies. That set the tone for the best self-catering accommodation we have ever used (and we've used A LOT!). Great location, great welcome and very comfortable.

The cabin is in a fabulous location for local walks, water sports and bird watching. Both Beaulieu and Bucklers Hard are within easy walking distance and it is really central for days out. The owner is very friendly and the cabin is very well equipped. I would thoroughly recommend the Riverside Retreat as a great place to stay.

If you’re after a holiday destination which has natural wonders and British tradition in abundance, look no further than the New Forest – a region where beautiful heathland, forest trails and stunning coastline surround quaint villages and market towns.

The National Park is found on England’s south coast, covering the south west of Hampshire but extending into Wiltshire and Dorset. It’s known for its picturesque footpaths and cycle trails, from which you can witness the spectacular sights of deer, ponies and cattle roaming free throughout the ancient woodland.

The villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Buckler’s Hard have plenty of traditional, cosy pubs in which you can enjoy some locally-brewed cider or beer. Or, if you wanted something a little livelier, Hythe, Lymington and New Milton run fantastic weekly markets, while the lively city of Southampton is a drive away.

If you prefer coast over country, a visit to the shoreline is a must. Highlights include the Barton-on-Sea cliffs, Lymington Quay, and the Beaulieu River, where adventurous activities including canoeing await. There are plenty of other great things to do, too, with the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Breamore House and Museum near Fordingbridge, and Exbury Gardens all found around the region.
