Property advertised for 8, which would be too cramped; ideal for the 2 of us, plus dog. Warm and cosy in November. Excellent site, lots of interest. Hotel and bar opposite are convenient.

Beautiful location with picturesque views of the river and boats. The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and warm. The wood burner in the lounge was great and made it very homely! We enjoyed our stay and the kitchen was well equipped . Showers and bath were good with plenty of hot water to go round! Dishwasher was great to use as there was 5 adulRead morets in our party. Also the washing machine and tumble dryer were useful after our cycle ride! Great place to stay in the New Forest. Hide

A lovely cottage in a perfect location, right in the heart of a living museum. More than enough to see and do in the New Forest, and we hardly scratched the surface in a week's holiday. Cottage is serviced by the hotel opposite, whose staff are excellent and caring.

If you’re after a holiday destination which has natural wonders and British tradition in abundance, look no further than the New Forest – a region where beautiful heathland, forest trails and stunning coastline surround quaint villages and market towns.

The National Park is found on England’s south coast, covering the south west of Hampshire but extending into Wiltshire and Dorset. It’s known for its picturesque footpaths and cycle trails, from which you can witness the spectacular sights of deer, ponies and cattle roaming free throughout the ancient woodland.

The villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Buckler’s Hard have plenty of traditional, cosy pubs in which you can enjoy some locally-brewed cider or beer. Or, if you wanted something a little livelier, Hythe, Lymington and New Milton run fantastic weekly markets, while the lively city of Southampton is a drive away.

If you prefer coast over country, a visit to the shoreline is a must. Highlights include the Barton-on-Sea cliffs, Lymington Quay, and the Beaulieu River, where adventurous activities including canoeing await. There are plenty of other great things to do, too, with the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Breamore House and Museum near Fordingbridge, and Exbury Gardens all found around the region.
