Cottage is sweet, quirky, and we found sufficently clean/equipped and cosy. Pros; Stunning location, hotel convenient if pricey, fab pop up food/bar stalls at marina on friday & saturday, comfy beds, garden furniture to seat 6 easily & lovely garden. Cons; v awkward stairs, sitting room tiny, NOT suitable for byo sports equipment - you pay to kayakRead more (7.50 each!!), and bikes have to be brought thru house. Sports club nearby though. Lots of people peering in at weekend! Hide

We loved this quirky cottage. It was in such a great location, really peaceful. We used the hotel for a couple of evening meals and the food and service was excellent.

Fabulous location great to be able to use the hotel Facilities. The Staff were very friendly. Cottage was basic and not very comfortable for relaxing in. Some grubby smells in the corners and cupboards. Garden was lovely! All in all we had a great week.

Lovely location at Bucklers Hard Hotel - but be aware you are on the grounds of a working museum site. On Monday and Thursday morning, there was a hive of activity from 7.30 through to 10.30 - lawn services, tractors going up & down gravel. We would recommend the Royal Oak Pub, just outside Beaulieu too. Watch out for the stairs! Hide

If you’re after a holiday destination which has natural wonders and British tradition in abundance, look no further than the New Forest – a region where beautiful heathland, forest trails and stunning coastline surround quaint villages and market towns.

The National Park is found on England’s south coast, covering the south west of Hampshire but extending into Wiltshire and Dorset. It’s known for its picturesque footpaths and cycle trails, from which you can witness the spectacular sights of deer, ponies and cattle roaming free throughout the ancient woodland.

The villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Buckler’s Hard have plenty of traditional, cosy pubs in which you can enjoy some locally-brewed cider or beer. Or, if you wanted something a little livelier, Hythe, Lymington and New Milton run fantastic weekly markets, while the lively city of Southampton is a drive away.

If you prefer coast over country, a visit to the shoreline is a must. Highlights include the Barton-on-Sea cliffs, Lymington Quay, and the Beaulieu River, where adventurous activities including canoeing await. There are plenty of other great things to do, too, with the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Breamore House and Museum near Fordingbridge, and Exbury Gardens all found around the region.
