"The setting is all" as Shakespeare would have termed it. As such, the owners give a real sense of not having to worry too much. We loved our Christmas break there, but it is not value for money and better value can be found elsewhere.

The owners charge top dollar for this property, but do not expect quality accommodation - they have a very "that will do" attitude to their property. What a shame - it's an absolutely stunning location and a very charming cottage - in the right hands.

The location of this charming little cottage couldn't be more ideal. Full of character, the bed sheets/towels are super clean and soft and the mattresses very comfy. The place is a little tired and you might want to avoid it if you struggle with steep, narrow, spiral stairs... but to be fair, that was made clear in the property description and didnRead more't bother us. We had 6 in the cottage which was a squeeze & breakfast was a struggle as we had to share crockery/cutlery. Otherwise, fab weekend. Hide

We stayed at Shipwrights Cottage, Buckler's Hard in July as a family of 4 including 2 children and 2 dogs! The property was very clean, well maintained, and comfortable, although the staircase is very steep, but this adds to the character of the old shipping cottages from hundreds of years ago (which this was in the 1700's!). A very convenient locaRead moretion for activities at Buckler's Hard, and for Beaulieu, too. Loved being on the river, woodland walks, and the pub with good food across the lane! Hide
