This is a great family friendly cottage in the middle of the countryside. It is very quiet , no road or farm noise at all. Good location for starting even short bike rides into the new forest. The kitchen is fully equipped and all the appliances are modern and new. Nice touch to have to bath under a skylight. Downton, nearby has everything you needRead more shopping wise but is still picturesque and has at least one amazing pub. Hide

The house was fab, lots to do within a half hour drive. We went for a walk around The Moot and the kids paddled in the lake. We did some cycling, had a picnic in the forest. Go Ape at Moors Valley was a huge hit even though it rained, so much to do there. This was our 3rd visit to The New Forest, well be back again.

If you’re after a holiday destination which has natural wonders and British tradition in abundance, look no further than the New Forest – a region where beautiful heathland, forest trails and stunning coastline surround quaint villages and market towns.

The National Park is found on England’s south coast, covering the south west of Hampshire but extending into Wiltshire and Dorset. It’s known for its picturesque footpaths and cycle trails, from which you can witness the spectacular sights of deer, ponies and cattle roaming free throughout the ancient woodland.

The villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Buckler’s Hard have plenty of traditional, cosy pubs in which you can enjoy some locally-brewed cider or beer. Or, if you wanted something a little livelier, Hythe, Lymington and New Milton run fantastic weekly markets, while the lively city of Southampton is a drive away.

If you prefer coast over country, a visit to the shoreline is a must. Highlights include the Barton-on-Sea cliffs, Lymington Quay, and the Beaulieu River, where adventurous activities including canoeing await. There are plenty of other great things to do, too, with the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Breamore House and Museum near Fordingbridge, and Exbury Gardens all found around the region.
